Blessedly Off Key

I miss holding hands.  You might not realize how intimate that really is, how beautiful the puzzle pieces of fingers and thumbs and knuckles.

His hands were so much bigger than mine.  We had our own special way.  I miss that way.

I miss running errands.  Especially the late night ones that seem so annoying at the time because nobody really wants to leave the house to get milk for breakfast tomorrow morning, but now that there’s only one of me to either run the errand or stay home with the boys, there will simply be no milk for breakfast.

(This is a metaphor.  We’re good on milk.)

I miss whiskers in the bathroom sink and sprinkled on the counter.

He used to whistle in the car, along with the tune on the radio.  This annoyed me.  I told him once, how I wished he would stop whistling now and then.  He stopped.  Until a few weeks later when I asked him to please start whistling again.

Oh, that whistle.  Blessedly off key.
